Mike...
if i created a blog for my classroom and invited parents to have access to it, could i somehow block my personal blog participation (ie the road to ????)? i need some evidence of parent communication to meet my performance goals for the year and i thought this would be a new way instead of the copy of the monthly newsletter! however, i don't want parents all up in my personal business. :)
thanks - suz

Suzy, are you concerned about the parents in your classroom that may not have ready access to the internet? How will you communicate with them?
ReplyDeletethe blog wouldn't take the place of the newsletter, it would just be a fun addition! in fact, i would inform parents in the newsletter about the blog! we have essential agreements at my school that all teachers must adhere to and newsletters happen to be a part of those agreements. we are required to write 1 every month.
ReplyDeleteYou can control various elements of your blog. You can control the look and feel. You can also control the items on the side such as followers, subscribe to, and contributors.
ReplyDeleteThe simplest thing would be to not include the section that lists contributors. Then your parents could not link to other blogs to which you contribute.
You could also create another google account. YOu could have one google account for work and one for personal use.
If you don't want to follow two accounts, you can have one gmail account forward to any e-mail account you want.
Technically, I think you might be able to register your DPS account as a Google account. That might work best.
Try it out.
